I haven’t seen this reported elsewhere.
Bloomberg.com’s “Cheaper Mortgages Spark Lower FICO Scores for Payers” offers an under-reported take on the impact of home loan modifications on borrowers’ FICO scores. Apparently, one consequence of reworking a home loan is a reduction in credit score. FICO scores range from 300 to 850.
The article includes a story about a borrower who saw his credit score drop by 121 points after entering the trial period for a loan adjustment under the President’s Home Affordable Modification Program.

Do you support credit card reform? If so, here is an easy way to share your position with your legislators:
Visit CreditCardReform.org
CreditCardReform.org is a Consumers Union web site. Consumers Union is the Nonprofit Publisher of Consumer Reports.
You can quickly use the CreditCardReform.org template to contact your legislator(s) and express your support of credit card reform. It’s easy and the more legislators hear the concerns of citizens and their credit card pain and complaints, the more likely they will be to support the bills currently in the U.S. House and Senate to reform the practices of credit card companies.
Need a reason? Think “Universal Default”. Enough said for most consumers.
If you want to write your own letter, the bills to encourage lawmakers to support are S.392, S. 235, S. 414 and HR 627.

So it’s the end of television as we know it on Feb. 17, 2009. Television stations in the United States will quit broadcasting analog signals.
If you currently use “rabbit ears” or use another type of attached antenna to receive your television signals, you will lose your signal. (If you have digital television or your stations are supplied by your cable company, then you should be okay.)
In order to watch your analog (non-digital) television without a box supplied by your cable company, you will need to purchase a converter box. Digital broadcasting should provide a clearer picture and more programming options for you. If you act now, the U.S. Federal Government will give you two $40 coupons for converter boxes through the TV Converter Box Coupon Program created by Congress.
This might be a good thing to mention to older family members. And if you have relatives without internet access, you can give away your coupon to help.
Read the details at http://www.dtv2009.gov/. You’ll discover why you need the converter box and where you can buy one in your area or online.
