Live a Good Life in 2006

As this year winds down and people begin looking into 2006 they do so with a wide range of emotions. Some are filled with excitement about the past and eager hope for another successful year. Others face the future with concerns about changes they expect in 2006 or wondering how they will continue dealing with the difficulties they carry into the new year.

And we all know 2005 was a tough year for many people. Large companies and small laid off employees. Financial pressures squeezed family budgets and many struggled. Thousands lost their homes and possessions in hurricanes. People are still displaced across the US waiting and wondering when and if they’ll be able to go home again.

While it’s common for one to wish others success, I believe it’s more important to wish a “good life” for people. A good life is not related to chasing money or the acquisition of material objects. Living a good life is unrelated to financial measures and material success. Living a good life is about living for what truly matters.

For some a good life will happen because they will pay more attention to their children and share more time with them. For others, it may mean they will be fully present in a relationship they value. Others will have a good life donating their time and talents to help those who are less fortunate. Some will volunteer in children’s homes or nursing homes. And some will live a good life because they begin focusing on aspects of Life that transcend the rat race they’ve run in the past. So, whatever a “good life” may mean for you, Wheatworks Software hopes you have a very good life in 2006!
