The phrase “mortgage calculator” that everyone seems to understand doesn’t really make sense.
Because a mortgage is not a number or series of numbers, it’s impossible to calculate one!
In general terms, a mortgage is an agreement to purchase property in which the property is the borrower’s pledge that he or she will pay for the property in accordance with the terms of the agreement. Once the property has been paid for in full, the pledge is cancelled. The lender will have received the money loaned (and a huge amount of interest) and the property will belong to the borrower.
While one cannot calculate a mortgage, there are a large number of useful financial calculations that can be performed related to the purchase or sale of real estate. For example, one can calculate payment amounts, amortization schedules, compare interest rates, etc.
